Professor Joan Nunce claimed victory against what she called the conspiracy of the “Sappho Deniers” after a massively important lesbio-historic discovery in Greece.
“There is a whole industry grown up around the cult of Sappho. Some claim she was non existent and some claimed she was really a plumber called Costas from Crete. Here in the form of clear, concrete evidence is proof that Sappho lived.”
The slide was listed on Ebay by a Liz Monroe, lesbian honeymooner, who uncovered it while strolling with her dog, KD.
Jill’s wife Liz explains, “It was about 9am and we had just been for a full English and I like to walk it off and as I leaned down to bag one of KD’s beach dumps, I saw this yellow piece of plastic. I pulled it up out of the sand and immediately recognised the face of Sappho about to lick a soft serve with what looked like a flake sticking out of it. We decided to list it on Ebay because we thought it might fetch a price and we could repair our caravan which had been wrecked recently (see related article).”
The slide is expected to come under intense bidding when it goes on sale next week at Sotheby’s Mykonos branch.
